Book Challenge

I was tagged in this book challenge by the 100% delightful Karyne Norton at Because of Books! Thanks, Karyne! 🙂

1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

I generally finish books, so the most recent I can think of was quite a while ago: BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG ASS by Jen Lancaster. I’d picked it up at a used book sale because she gets such good ratings, but her humor was too mean-spirited for me. I couldn’t relate to her.

2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?

All of YA used to be my guilty pleasure, but I no longer feel guilty about it. Problem = solved!

3. Which book do you love to hate?

THE SOUND AND THE FURY. Because so many literati types love it and I just can’t stand it. It’s like the reading equivalent of chewing tree bark.

4. Which book would you throw into the sea?

Maybe everything Ann Coulter has ever written? I haven’t read it, but I don’t feel anyone ever should.

5. Which book have you read the most?

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Because swoon!

6. Which book would you hate love to receive as a present?

I feel like this list is skewing very negative, so I changed it. I would LOVE to receive the new Princess Bride behind-the-scenes book by Cary Elwes! Want. Want. Want. It was on my Christmas list, but, you know, I had a lot of books on there and we had a budget to stick to.

7. Which book could you not live without?

All my Jane Austen (minus Northanger Abbey which I could totally live without). Well, I could live, but the world would be gloomier.

8. Which book made you the angriest?

ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell. Napoleon. I wanted to shove a rusty spike up his snout.

9. Which book made you cry the most?

The most is hard to say, because I am a massive crybaby. A few of my favorite tearjerkers, in no particular order: Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield, A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

10. Which book cover do you hate the most?

I don’t hate things nearly as much as this questionnaire would like. I can’t think of any covers that I hated.

I’m tagging anyone who read this and wants to join in! I’d love to read other bloggers’ answers! 🙂

All three books in your #9 answer are sitting in a stack on my shelf, waiting for me to read them in the near future (in book speak, that’s sometime in the next year). I guess I had better not read them all in a row otherwise I’ll be a mess.

    1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

A book called “Dark Debts,” about an exorcist. I just wasn’t engaged and it was already 3/4 of the way through. I’m sad to say I bailed.

    2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?

    Pride and Prejudice.

    3. Which book do you love to hate?

“She’s Come Undone.” It was so DEPRESSING!

    4. Which book would you throw into the sea?

    SHE’S COME UNDONE. For sure.

    5. Which book have you read the most?

IT. THE STAND. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. THE CHANGEOVER by Margaret Mahy (such a lovely book). JURASSIC PARK. LOTR way too many times to mention … All the Sookie books.

    6. Which book would you hate love to receive as a present?

I won’t answer this one, but I will say I saw Cary Elwes at BEA when he was signing his book about THE PRINCESS BRIDE. I was trying to get a pic of him with my phone, and I’m ashamed to say, I blinded him from the side. The pic is all squinting. But I’ll keep it forever.

    7. Which book could you not live without?

    The ones I mentioned above.

    8. Which book made you the angriest?

ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell. Napoleon. I wanted to shove a rusty spike up his snout.

    9. Which book made you cry the most?

Okay, do you sense a pattern? SHE’S COME UNDONE.

    10. Which book cover do you hate the most?

I don’t actually have any problems with book covers … None stands out to me. Sorry.

Ha! I agree – that list was so negative! It would be more helpful to flip-flop all the questions to give people ideas of what to read! Glad you took the time to fill it out. You and I are such different readers! It’s fun to see your perspective. 🙂
