I finished My True Love Gave to Me last week and it was as glorious as I’d hoped! My favorite YA authors writing Christmas romance stories? Yes, please.
Stephanie Perkins has curated an absolutely magical set of holiday love stories. Best friends who come together over several years of New Year’s Eve parties (Midnights, Rainbow Rowell), a girl who falls for a boy from the past who only shows up when it snows on Christmas (The Lady and the Fox, Kelly Link), poor boy meets rich girl while catsitting at his boss’s fancy apartment (Angels in the Snow, Matt de la Pena), girl meets boy on a Christmas tree lot near her house (It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown, Stephanie Perkins). Etc. Etc. Etc.
You get the gist. This is basically a book of Hallmark/ABC Family Christmas movies framed as short stories, with a gorgeous fantasy by Laini Taylor at the end for good measure. If you like Christmas and you like love, grab this book and devour it in your Santa jammies, sipping peppermint hot chocolate and snuggled up near a decked out tree or a crackling fire. I did. Well, I had snowman jammies, but still.
Do you know of any great Christmas love stories I should read? Have you read My True Love Gave to Me?
