What I Like About You!

This week’s Road Trip Wednesday is based on this guest post by [my favorite YA author] Stephanie Perkins (on Natalie Wipple’s blog). Essentially, when Perkins is working on a project, she creates a “love list,” enumerating all of the details that she loves about her WIP. She uses the love list “as a touchstone to remind myself during the hard times why my story is worthwhile.”

So YA Highway asks: What is your novel’s love list?

My current WIP, MELT YOUR FACE, has a lot to love. So much that I have been consistently meeting and exceeding my word goals every day. I know, I’m impressive.

Here is my MELT YOUR FACE love list:

  • punk rock
  • girl lead singers
  • complicated love
  • yearning
  • Johnny Cash
  • confidence
  • Gigantor
  • kissing
  • pissing off parents
  • boy humor
  • loneliness
  • drummer boys
  • nerds
  • Star Wars
  • band dynamics
  • more kissing
  • Patsy Cline
  • brawling
  • twin brothers
  • playing house
  • fake families
  • Seattle

I could go on. I really could. But I want to get back to work 🙂

What’s on your love list? (I hope it’s kissing)

Melt Your Face is one the best titles I’ve heard in a long time!
Anything that includes Star Wars and punk rock has got to be fab.

AHHHHH This list just makes me think about my own WiP, in a really, really good way. I love all your inspirations—girl singers, punk rock, Seattle, boy humor, Star Wars… this is a great bunch of inspirations. Can’t wait to hear more about where you go with it!!
