Not this kind of Seven.

Not like Seven the movie. Seven the game! Colin Smith tagged me in the Lucky Seven meme, and even though my WIPs are a little messy at the moment, I am going to cheat a little so I can participate.

The meme: Each tagged person is supposed to go to page 77 of their WIP, jump down to line 7, copy the next 7 lines, and paste them into a blog to share with the world.

The cheat: I’m totally posting lines from page 7. They’re in much better shape.

Mom slumped on the couch, holding her head in her hands and massaging her temples. Her eyes like angry bee stings. “A missing persons report? Really, Charlotte?”

I paced the kitchen, my fingernails digging into my palms. “We don’t know where he could be. He could be lying in a ditch somewhere. Ditches are magnets for disaster.”

So, there you go. Thanks, Colin, for tagging me! I’m not going to tag anyone specifically, but if you happen by this post and want to participate, feel free to link to your post in the comments! 🙂 I’d love to see what everyone else is working on.

Wow–I love that last line about ditches. It made me laugh because I realized that my go-to line for being worried about someone is, indeed, that I thought they were lying in a ditch–and I had never once contemplated how bizarre that is. That’s my favorite kind of line to read 🙂

I completely missed this post when I was checking to see if you’d been tagged already – oops! Thanks for posting the link 🙂 And I love the character voice in the last line of dialogue from your WiP.
